wishing for better days

I hate the cold!

Pretty sure it hates me too though so we're even!

The only time I've ever wished for the cold was when I was in Melbourne and it was 45c (about 113f) but right now I'd do almost anything, even go to icanhascheezburger and not say awwww or lol, for that heat!

I want to go back to Melbourne......

even with its fail beaches that have no waves, are crowded and are creepily warm......and its shopping mall with a crazy glass cone......and even crazier art work......and kinda scary Luna Park entrance which I'm pretty sure will eat me in my sleep......and even with strange people dressed as statues I want summer to be here, I'm sick of the cold *sad face*

Until then I'll just pretend I'm back in Melbourne and all its weird things (ps no meanness towards Melbourne intended, it's totally my favourite city!)

So Holly is finally starting to like me and not fly across to the over side of the room when I'm near!

I've always been convinced Holly hates me, my theory is because I named him Holly.

(I swear I didn't know he was male when I named him)
Either way Holly is a wee bit cute at times- see subject a & b

a.b.The reason he now likes me is I discovered he will do this.........and that's his sign he wants 'scratches' (which for him is blowing on him), he goes kinda crazy and be like 1mm away from your face fluffy himself up and contorting to where he wants scratched!

If you take a break to do I don't know, maybe take a breath in, he will start hissing until you realise breathing isn't really essential.

Charli is the funniest person ever!

-You can never ever predict what she is going to say next

-She can out pose anyone

-Does the best impressions

-She can make the most hilarious faces

Charli is the most loving person ever!

-She will run up and hug you for no reason

-Everytime I get changed or even just brush my hair, she will tell me I look pretty

-She snuggles with you in bed and strokes your hand

-Her kisses can melt anyones heart

Charli is the smartest person ever!

-She only needs to hear a word once and is then able to correctly use it

-Notices absolutely everything

-She has been able to read her own name since the age of two

-Her memory can out do anyones

Charli is one of the greatest people to ever bless this earth and I would be completely lost without her!

to buy or not to buy

So I really really like this dress, well it's probably more like love!

But the question is, is it $120 worth of love ?

a great day to bake a cake

So yesterday I decided it was time to bake a cake that wasn't from a box, I searched the internet high and low to find a recipe that didn't involve a years supply of butter or buttermilk (I don't even know if you can buy that stuff here).

I finally found a recipe on the good old Martha Stewart website with ingredients I actually had, I managed to successfully bake the cake with help from my mumma (I have a mild fear of the oven).

I then began on the second step of my baking adventure..... fondant!

I had never even seen the stuff in real life but thought I'd give it a shot, I spent a good hour colouring it and giving my hands an epic workout!

Then came the time that I had to put the fondant on the cake, it was a mission but with some more help from mumma I managed to do it!

With the use of some playdough cutters (after being boiled) I had completed the cake and must say it turned out a bagillion times better than I was expecting. It even got the all important taste approval from three year old Charli!

I'm going to declare my cake a success!

I haven't quite perfected my photography skills yet, but I try.

a new creation

For almost two years now I've had this frame and sheet music lying around trying to figure out what exactly what to do with them.

No combination of the two looked quite right until I discovered the beauty of gold spray paint.

The photo doesn't quite do the gold paper justice, it looks way better than all the other gold paper I've seen before (but maybe Dunedin limits the variety available to me).

So far it's the best thing I've managed to put together and even have the war wounds to prove it, stupid hacked edges on glass *sad face*
